MIssion Week 57; Gent Week 1

First of all, here's my new address.
Auguste van Ooststraat 51
9050 Ledeberg
Belgium
(Notice the lack of the irritating letters in the postcode.:)

Belgium is...different. There are hills, the roads can't decide
if they're well-made or not, the milk has a shelf-life longer than
tortillas, and the police sirens are normal-sounding. The train
stations smell good (waffles). We're reduced to shopping at Aldi,
which has a smaller selection than some 7-11s. There's not really
regularly-shaped sandwich bread. I haven't been able to find
peanutbutter that hasn't been imported. Oh, yeah. And our apartment is
worse than the one I was in in Rotterdam. Seven of the fifteen stairs
are less than parallel to the floor, so going downstairs is always an
adventure. Flemmish is kind of like Irish-Dutch. It sounds like the
people are speaking Dutch with an Irish accent. And they use different
words. And a lot of them also have some French accent mingled in
there, so I had a hard time getting a month bus pass earlier.
We've actually gotten some pretty decent weather, with clouds
dispersing through the day and the weather warming up. It's been nice,
especially because we don't have to wear our suit coats anymore.
Is the Wal-Mart in West Jordan still practically inaccessible?
It's really not fun that you had to go in an emergency to get new
mattresses. Late-night Wal-Mart runs are only fun if they're planned.
Maybe Sphinx was responsible...:P
I loved the parts of conference that we saw. We only got to see
Priesthood and the first half of the Saturday Afternoon session,
though. We had to leave the church in Antwerpen at three so we could
get to our dinner appointment on time. I personally would have
preferred to have called our appointment off. I really liked the
emphasis put on reactivation. That definitely tells me where I need to
focus as a missionary. And I TOTALLY saw Victor in the choir during
the Priesthood session. It made me so happy!
It's fun that you're busy getting stuff for the wedding. When am
I going to get the tie for the cardboard cutout? Or has that idea been
scrapped?
That's pretty much all I have on this end of the world. The
Church is true. General Conference is amazing. I love you all.
