So, on Tuesday at District Meeting, I received both packages. Thank you. I've been having a lot of fun studying the Ensign.
Yesterday we found out that Breda is being whitewashed and getting sisters. I'm going to be right next door in Eindhoven. My new address will be:
Kluizenaarstraat 13
5641 HE Eindhoven
Now that there's a little bit of stability with the mission office and the mission home, it's a good idea to send packages to the mission office. I should theoretically be getting the stuff that's sent there about once a month, or at least once a transfer.
It's awesome that the animals at the zoo were a little more active; I remember the polar bears in Omaha playing with some balls. It was really cool. It's also good that it wasn't very crowded. Zoos are a lot more fun when there aren't so many people there.
Harry Potter's pretty big over in the Netherlands, too. I keep catching glimpses of newspapers with articles about something Harry Potter related. And there were posters all over Rotterdam advertising the books. I was kind of surprised to hear Jona School (the ward mission leader's 7-year-old son) talking about Harry Potter, because I had no idea who any of the characters were. Then I realized that they've changed some of the names in the translations for some reason.
So, last week we actually did make it to Ikea. We didn't get any more pans, but we got mixing bowls, a new colander, bowls that aren't plastic, and a MASSIVE wooden cutting board. It's nice not having chills go down my spine when I'm doing anything with the cutting board. I made rolls this week (I looked up the Dutch word for yeast, and it was right by the baking powder), and Elder Fritzler loves them a ton. I'm going to have to give him the recipe.
I'm starting to understand a lot more Dutch, and I'm being understood a lot more, too. We got a call from somebody who found our number through mormon.org and the mission office, and she wanted to schedule an appointment for tomorrow, so we get to do that and tell her that they're getting new missionaries.
This week's been pretty uneventful other than getting rained on so much that my planner, which was in my pocket under my jacket, got soaked beyond use. It's ridiculous how much rain we've been having this week. I think that on Thursday it rained for 24 hours straight.
Other than the rain, nothing much has happened this week. I got a card that'll let me travel on the train more easily, and I figured out how to activiate it for more than the bus.
This next transfer is going to be interesting. Elder Schwarz is my companion, and he's pretty cool. The missionary "apartment" in Eindhoven is actually a 3-story house, so I'm wondering how my knee will agree with that. It hasn't been too happy with me since last Saturday. I'm hoping it'll start behaving.
It's looking like I'm getting a record of spending one transfer in an area, and then that area being white-washed. I'm on three transfers with three areas, while our new district leader, Elder Leash, is going into transfer 12 and is still on his third area. It's exciting. I'm going to be really good at packing efficiently.
The church is true. I love you all.
