I have not yet received either package yet, but I now know that the first one was given to Sister Brubaker by the Rotterdam Zone Leaders so it could get to the office, and the Antwerp Zone Leaders were at the office last week, so hopefully they'll have it and be able to give it to me at District Meeting tomorrow. Where did you send the second one?
We're currently trying really hard to find new investigators; we only have one investigator who's making any progress, but we have a really promising referral, who ordered a copy of the Book of Mormon online and called us back when we left our card in his box when he wasn't home. And we can even get there via bus Monday through Friday. Unfortunately, when we contacted him, it was a Saturday, so we had to walk the 3.5 miles each direction.
I'm really jealous of the amount of member missionary work that goes on in Utah. Before my mission, I'd only ever seen missionaries tracting once, and that's because they were the Spanish speaking missionaries. But we keep encouraging the members to bring people to church, and they do that, so that's helping us a lot.
Independence Day was awesome. I thought about making hamburgers, but then we did the district P-day, and I had Subway for lunch and a good ol' American style pizza for dinner. It was a good day. It was only missing root beer. I'm kind of sad about missing Pioneer Day, but I'll survive. I really loved marching in the band in the parade, and then coming home, relaxing, and watching fireworks. Those were good memories. I'll be sure to do something somewhat celebratory for that day, but it might be limited by the fact that it's a Sunday.
It's really cool that you have something that the family can do during the summer. It might be worth it if all of you go and get bowling shoes. It'd save $2 a day.
I'm perfectly fine with you celebrating my birthday when I'm not there. I'll definitely be doing something awesome on P-Day here. You know what I love for a birthday dinner, so all of you can enjoy it without me.
It's cool that you feel the lesson went well. I know that when I entered the MTC you were trying to read through Jesus the Christ. Have you finished it yet? and if you have, did it help? I read it in the MTC, and I'm thinking about reading through it again, but I'm thinking I'll wait until after my Bible read-through.
This week, Elder Fritzler and I were going to go to Vlissingen, but then we spent a while trying to find someone else to come to our dinner appointment with us so we could actually go, and we didn't have enough time by the time we found a possibility. Instead, we biked out to a smaller city just outside of Breda and did some tracting there. In our first hour of tracting, we only had three people answer the door, and the one I talked to turned out to be an inactive member. I'm thinking that she probably needed a reminder that God still loves her and got the hint.
Next week we'll know if we're staying or going for transfers. Wow! That snuck up on me this time around.
I'm going to wrap up so we can go to Ikea. We're actually making it work this time. Hopefully the store that supposedly has shortening really does, because that and vinegar are all I need to make apple pie. And a pan, but that'll be fixed soon.
The Church is true. I love you all.
P.S. If I happen to get transferred, I'll send an email with my address to all who write me regularly next week.
