Mission Week 80, Gent Week 24

That picture that Brother Geens took is of me eating on Oliebol. It was delicious. Is it weird that I kind of miss the beginning-of-school rush? There's something about scrabbling to get schedules in order and getting used to them that's appealing. Oh, well. I'll get to experience it next year. I hope Gideon does get a job as a sweeper. I know first-hand how hard it is to get that job. Zucchini bread sounds delicious. I tried making some back when I was in Alkmaar, but I didn't have appropriate pans, so I baked it in an oval casserole dish. It swelled up and the top got burned when it touched the heating element in the tiny oven. And then it wasn't baked all the way through, so I put it in the microwave for an hour. Bad idea. It started resembling a rock. Maybe I'll try it sometime next transfer. I just hope my next apartment has a well-designed and -equipped kitchen. The weather here has been pretty bi-polar. As usual. We've had pouring rain, burning sun, and wind fast enough to turn our pretty big balcony into a giant whistle. That was an interesting weekly planning session. On Tuesday Elder Praag and I got home to a new surprise. There was a hill behind our apartment building that wasn't there before. And there were a lot less trees. I hope they grass it over. That would be nice. Last week in church we had somebody walk into church who we didn't expect. We'd had several appointments with Makaveli (not Machiavelli) that had fallen through, but then he showed up to church. We met with him on Saturday, and he is super-willing to accept the gospel. It's awesome. We're hoping to have him be baptized at the end of the month. Other than that miracle, things have been going pretty slowly. We've had some people who have actually listened to us. And a lot of people who get super-mad just because we look at them. That's pretty much it from over here. We have a zone conference with Ian S. Ardern on Wednesday in Rotterdam. I'm really excited for that. The Church is true. I love you all.
