Hi, everybody.
Was the Cross Country relay a fund-raiser or something like that? It sounds like it would be fun.
I'd probably have to say that one of my favorite scriptures is Alma 17:31. It's surprisingly applicable to missionary work.
It's really good that you're getting the back yard all cleaned up. It's been a mess way too much. And a garden would be enjoyable for the whole family. What are you thinking about planting?
With General Conference, we're either going to go to the house of the American family in our ward (they have a huge TV, and watch the general sessions via the Internet), or we're going to spend the weekend down in Antwerp and watch as many sessions as it's reasonable to watch. We're going to watch the morning sessions live, and the other sessions delayed because of the time difference. Otherwise the afternoon session would end around midnight, and the Priesthood session wouldn't start until 2 a.m.
I do not have the apple crisp recipe. Please do send it. It's one of the things for which I can actually get all the ingredients (probably not surprising, considering how close I am to the source). That would give me a change for breakfast from Frosted Flakes. It'd probably make my companion happy, too.
The teaching here is going well. This last week we were only able to meet with one of our investigators, due to funerals and stubborn parents, but the investigator with whom we got to meet is making a lot of progress. She's already read the first thirty or so pages in the Book of Mormon, and she came across the Word of Wisdom online. When it came up, she started talking about how she'd already given up coffee, cola, and energy drinks, and was busy quitting smoking. She was really relieved when she was told that she's allowed to drink cola, as long as she doesn't get addicted to it.
On Friday night we had Annabel Jones's baptism. The whole service, she was glowing. When it was time for the actual ordinance, she grabbed her dad's hand and started dragging him toward the font. When she realized that he wasn't going any faster, she started running toward the font on her own. It was a good service. At the beginning, the bishop said, "This whole service will be in English, and if you have a problem with that...then you have a problem." It was really funny. Afterward, we biked home in the dark, after Annabel made us get a picture with her (attached). A lot of Dutch people were introduced to No-Bake cookies, and they enjoyed them. It was just overall a good service, and the Spirit was definitely present.
Other than the aforementioned things, it was a kind of slow week. We did get stuck on a bus that smelled like pot on the way home, yesterday. We would've biked home, but it was raining a lot. And we went out to the middle of nowhere to try to contact a referral, but the second bus we needed didn't stop for us, and it only comes every other hour.
The Church is true. Heavenly Father loves all of us. I love you all.
Auf Wiedersehen. Oops. Wrong language. Tot ziens!
